Music is something we all live with, often without stopping to consider just how powerful it really is. It inspires us, lifts us, and gently directs our thoughts and emotions. It can bring people together, spark memories, and open doors to deeper understanding. In spiritual work especially, music plays a far greater role than we sometimes realise.
Music has the ability to raise our vibration. It energises us, creates emotional movement, and helps shift the atmosphere around us. When music is played in a spiritual setting, it doesn’t just affect those present physically; it also supports communication with Spirit. The energy it creates allows connection to flow more easily, both for us and for those working with us from the spirit world.
One of the most fascinating aspects of music is how personal it is. Every one of us has different tastes, different songs that resonate deeply. Certain pieces of music can stop us in our tracks, stir emotion, or transport us instantly to another time and place. When that happens, it’s worth pausing and asking why.
Why does this particular song matter to you? Is it linked to a memory, a specific moment in your life, or a loved one? Does it remind you of someone who is still with you, or someone who has passed to Spirit? Often, the music we love carries messages about who we are, what we value, and the connections that shape our lives.
This reflection came to me personally while driving, when a song came on that has always meant a great deal to me. The song was Cats in the Cradle, performed by Ugly Kid Joe, a cover of an earlier original. It tells the story of the relationship between a father and son, how patterns repeat across generations, and how those relationships evolve over time. Listening to it, I realised how closely it reflected my own life and experiences. It wasn’t just a song; it was a mirror.
Music often works like that. It tells stories. Long before books were common, stories were passed down through spoken word and song. Music has always been a way of sharing experience, wisdom, and understanding across generations. Even today, it remains one of the most powerful storytelling tools we have.
There is also a deeper layer to music that’s worth considering. At its core, music is vibration. Every instrument produces sound through vibration. Even when we sing or speak, vibration is what carries our voice. If we want to connect more clearly with others, with the universe, and with Spirit, we need to work at raising our vibration. Music helps us do exactly that.
So allow yourself to truly enjoy the music you love. Feel it rather than just hearing it. Let it inspire you, energise you, and lift you. In doing so, you raise your own vibration, and that makes spiritual connection clearer and stronger.
Music is not just background noise. It is a tool, a teacher, and a bridge between worlds. When we understand that, and work with it consciously, it can support healing, deepen connection, and help us move forward with greater awareness and openness.
