Online Mediumship: from the Medium’s Perspective

Like all Churches during lockdown we had to close our doors and find other ways of serving our community, which for us included moving Online!

When we first planned an Online Live Stream Divine Service we were not sure how it was going to work, or if mediumship through the Internet would even be possible.  But with the dedication of our committee/trustees, the patience of some wonderful Mediums and support from Spirit, the results have surprised us all!

While online mediumship and services won’t replace physical events in Church, we believe there is definitely a place for online events in the future.

In the following blog we’ve put together some feedback from those mediums who have served our Church Online.  We hope it will help other mediums who are taking their first steps online and give a bit more background for those watching the service as to how online mediumship works.

“As soon as the service started, I could feel the presence of spirit with me. Even though I was in my dining room, I could feel the coming together of a regular divine service. Science tells us that energy cannot be created or destroyed and as a spiritualist we know that we are energy and the Spirit world continues as an integral part of a world which interpenetrates our world.”

Many of my in person spiritual events have been cancelled this year which is sad, even though I know that this needed to be so. However, I still very much missed working and connecting with the world of Spirit at the various churches and centres that I serve. A fellow medium friend made a joke about us being like fledgelings when we are allowed to return to the churches and centres

Unexpectedly I received a phone call from Frank at Thundersley Spiritualist Church.  Frank explained to me that the committee at Thundersley Church had recently started to present divine service online and would I like to be one of their mediums. Frank explained to me the procedure and how well received the service had been, by the previous mediums and congregation. Without a second thought I accepted the opportunity to be able to connect and work the Spirit world.

After I had put the phone down to Frank the reality of what I had accepted sunk in! Mediumship online giving messages to people that I could not see. A moment of panic swept over me and the what if’s started to creep into my mind. Would I connect, would anyone accept the message, who am I with?

On the evening of my demonstration the committee really put me at ease and made me feel completely comfortable about working in a new way. They reassured me that they were there for me if needed, this completely took away any pressure. The only pressure that I had, was that that I put upon myself.

As soon as the service started, I could feel the presence of spirit with me.  Even though I was in my dining room, I  could feel the coming together of a regular divine service. Science tells us that energy cannot be created or destroyed and as a spiritualist we know that we are energy and the Spirit world continues as an integral part of a world which interpenetrates our world.

When I reflect back upon my first steps as a developing medium two words come to mind ‘ Trust and Surrender’. Surrender yourself to spirit and trust in what spirit is giving you. Spirit is omnipresent, being present everywhere and never more did spirit demonstrate this to me, when I connected and gave my messages to the congregation. In fact I had one of my most profound connections and messages of conversation, that evening.

Thank you to Frank, Donna and Rob for inviting me and making this all possible. We are at a new time in our lives and there is a need to embrace new technology and I’m thankful for being given the opportunity by the committee of Thundersley Christian spiritualist Church and spirit to be able to serve.

God Bless.

“As a Medium I want to deliver the best and most accurate information I possibly can, but this was different, not hearing a ‘yes’, ‘no’, or don’t know, left me with just having to rely on my Complete Trust in Spirit,  that they would provide what they wanted their loved ones to know or confirm information for them, that they were well.”

I’ve never been a person to push myself forward, and at times, am quite happy to sit back and observe. I love Thundersley Christian Spiritualist Church since I first walked through the doors, it holds amazing energy and I feel connected to the Spirit World whilst I’m there. I enjoy being part of the Committee and help out when I can, be it taking a  Service, Christening, helping with music for a wedding, raising funds with The Evening of Spirit, or simply make the tea or push the hoover around. All Committee members do what they can, when they can, and it seems to work as everyone is equal.

During this pandemic, and we had to close our church doors, we were fortunate that Rob and Donna suggested we did a ‘live’ service, including mediums working in their own homes and giving evidence of continuing life. Some Mediums I know regularly do readings via the internet but it’s not something I had ever considered, until we discussed it.

The fact that everyone had been affected by the Government restrictions and the threat of this awful COVID 19 virus, taking our loved ones lives unexpectedly, is when we needed to feel the support of the church and our beliefs. So when I was asked if I would consider joining in from home, my main concern was firstly that the internet connection would work, and that I would cope with reading the comments whilst maintaining the connection with Spirit. Rob has enormous patience and talked me through everything on a dummy run prior to the service and it was all set to go live on the Sunday.

I set up my iPad in what we call our ‘sun room’ at the back of our bungalow. I closed the curtains so the dogs couldn’t see me, or they would have wanted to join in! and told Bert not to disturb me whatever happens. Fortunately I had my phone handy as there was a slight delay in transmission from the church to my connection in Clacton. Another slight obstacle was I couldn’t see any comments once I started relaying the messages, so had to put on my phone to see any response. It was a little stressful to say the least but a great learning curve.

As a Medium I want to deliver the best and most accurate information I possibly can, but this was different, not hearing a ‘yes’, ‘no’, or don’t know, left me with just having to rely on my Complete Trust in Spirit,  that they would provide what they wanted their loved ones to know or confirm information for them, that they were well. I decided early on, that as I couldn’t see the comments I would just work as if I were doing blind readings, where you would sit with someone but couldn’t see who it was that sat in front of you, and gave the messages without any comments, until the Spirit person had finished. For the sceptics that think we can read people’s thoughts or read their body language, Or we know the recipient,  working in this way proves non of that is possible.

I feel the whole experience of doing a ‘live’ service like this has deepened my trust in the spirit World and those that communicate through me. I have never before worked from my own home and felt the whole room full of energy with the presence of Spirit. I am truly grateful. It is something we have discussed and I have agreed to do again in a few weeks time.

I do feel that I could reach out to more people now without having to travel hundreds of miles to work for Spirit, so that is a positive step forward.

No doubt how we move forward has to be carefully considered, and getting our congregation back together in a safe environment will be our priority, but for the near future we will continue with our ‘live’ services with the Mediums that are happy to work in this new way. We have reached many new people from much further afield than Benfleet, that without us connecting in this way would be left without the upliftment and assurance that our Loved ones are safe, and that our prayers are being heard.

Know you are loved.

“I can honestly say I loved doing the live service…did it test my confidence – YES.
Did it test my trust in spirit to go with what they were giving me – YES.
Would I do it again – YES lol.”

Hello everyone, my name is Stacie Frost and some of you know that I work on platform as a spiritual medium.

As we are all aware of the current situation, I like many others knew that churches and centres for demonstration would be shut for the duration and expected to clear my calendar for the foreseeable future. Little did I expect a phone call from Frank at Thundersley Christian Spiritual church asking me to take part in their live streaming service.  To be honest I had never done a reading this way…let alone a service! And although part of me wanted to run the other way…the part of me that knows sometimes we have to face things we are scared about, said “OK Frank I can do that”.  The point is, that this is what this work is about. It is about helping others and that putting our fears aside for a greater good. One, I felt privileged to be asked and two, it enabled me the blessing to be able to connect with spirit to those at home who still needed the upliftment from them.

Rob…a technical whizz set everything up for a test run and I actually felt really excited along with the nerves. Watching the way the screens came up for each segment, well it felt very Harry Potter! As anyone who knows me understands that computers and technology are definitely not my strong point. On the day of the service, I was just as nervous as if I were about to address everyone as I would on platform…even more so because I wasn’t sure if I would even get a link with spirit. I have just about mastered the face to face, now I am going to attempt to link in to people who I cannot see and who’s responses are delayed.

However…all nerves went. I can honestly say I loved doing the live service…did it test my confidence – YES. Did it test my trust in spirit to go with what they were giving me – YES. Would I do it again – YES lol. In fact the whole evening was very relaxed and of course there were a few glitches, but they actually made the whole experience feel very intimate and took away the stress of everything having to be perfection.

From this experience (twice), It has allowed me the confidence within myself to grow and has helped push me forward to now do my own live evenings of mediumship on social media. I have done my first trans Atlantic reading, which would never of happened if I hadn’t taken the chance offered by the church.

I know it may seem daunting and it may not be for everyone…but Donna, Frank, Peter and Rob who help set this up are so kind…if you get a chance, have a go. I for one not only came out with more confidence, but I came out with some more friends too.

Love and Blessings
