The Fire of Pentecost Still Burns Within Us

By Amanda Jane Wilson

On Sunday evening, we reflected on the meaning of Pentecost and the continuing presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As I listened to the beautiful Bible readings and the contributions from everyone involved in the service, I felt deeply reminded that Pentecost was never meant to be viewed simply as a historical event from 2,000 years ago.

For me, Pentecost is an ongoing spiritual reality.

The fire that descended upon the disciples did not burn out with time. It is part of an eternal flame that still lives within each one of us. I believe that same spiritual fire continues to burn in the hearts of mediums, healers, seekers, and all those who open themselves to the presence of Spirit.

As Christian Spiritualists, we understand that communication with Spirit is not limited to the past. The Holy Spirit continues to move among us today, guiding, inspiring, comforting, and uplifting humanity through love – the highest vibration of all.

One of the most important things I wanted to remind everyone is the value of stillness and quiet reflection. In today’s busy world, silence can feel uncomfortable, yet it is often in those quiet moments that we become aware of Spirit’s presence. Through meditation, prayer, and inward reflection, we connect with our intuition, our higher self, and the loving energies of the Spirit world.

Spirit communicates with us in many different ways. Sometimes it comes through dreams. Sometimes through synchronicities, signs, feelings, thoughts, or moments that simply cannot be explained away as coincidence. These experiences remind us that we are never truly alone.

I truly believe that when we speak to Spirit with sincerity and faith, our loved ones in the Spirit world draw close to us. They guide us, encourage us, and help us through difficult times. The soul is eternal, and the bond of love can never be broken by death.

Pentecost also reminds us of unity. The Holy Spirit flows through all living things and connects humanity through divine love. We are all part of something greater than ourselves, joined together spiritually despite our differences.

As we move forward in our daily lives, I encourage everyone to make time for quietness. Sit peacefully. Speak to your loved ones in Spirit. Open your heart. Allow yourself to feel that connection. You may be surprised by how near Spirit truly is.

May we all continue to walk in faith, love, and spiritual awareness.

Amen.
